Right hand tremor
I have had a severe tremor in only my right hand now for several years and I'm wondering if you doctors or anyone can recommend a remedy - or at least something to lessen the severity of this - or help me determine the cause. Below are my responses to your questionnaire. If you need anythinig further from me, please ask:Sex: Female; Age: 57
Nature of work: Legal secretary, 25 yrs. Lots of computer work, fast-paced; deadlines
Habits: Tend to be sedentary (not when younger); eat generally healthy, but major sweet tooth & cravings
Describe your main suffering and from how long? Right hand tremor Very noticeable; never stops, day & night (somewhat deadened in morning (before my nerves are fully awake) Started about 3 years ago (Age 54)
Any cause which you feel for this ailment? Tremor started one week after I was rear-ended by another car. It was a very gentle tap I didnt think much of it at the time, but I dont think its a coincidence that my hand started shaking the very next week. It never did before. Maybe my neck snapped at the time of impact & I just wasnt aware of it.
What other physical sufferings do you have in your body? Tend to get headaches in the back of my head where it meets the neck only when been sleeping, but it seems to coincide w/my eating something sweet or processed before bed. (Headaches existed before auto accident.) Hay fever in spring since childhood; cat/horse allergies (since teenager)
What mental sufferings/feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? None caused by the tremor other than embarrassment when people notice it as they just think I'm real nervous about something.
What are the things which aggravate or ameliorate your suffering? Tremor gets worse when I havent eaten particularly protein in a while. Also worse when physically exhausted, worked hard, or when I am nervous. (It is much more pronounced then such as on a job interview or if Im upset at someone/something)
When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? I like warm weather, but not humid. I feel like hibernating in winter and hate being cold.
What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? I crave chocolate, ice cream or other sweets periodically. I like most foods, love most veggies. There aren't many things Id label aversions.
How is your thirst? Less (Im never thirsty even when I should be. I have to force it)
How is your hunger? Normal
How is your bowel movement & stool? Constipation is a major problem, Very hard stool. Painful.
How sleep, how are your dreams? Im a night-owl - never in bed before midnight or later. Sleep in later in morning, if able. My highest energy is in the afternoon/evening. Dreams are usually ok if Im not upset about something. I keep a notebook of dreams when theyre weird, they usually focus on feelings of frustration or helplessness.
Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? Sometimes have apnea episodes. Periodically I have a tingling/burning sensation of skin on my back It feels like a severe sunburn (for no apparent reason). This burning sensation predates the auto accident and tremor problem.
What medications? I currently take Atenolol for blood pressure 25 ml. I take Excedrin when I wake up w/the headaches. If I have any aversions (see above), I guess it would be to using medications.
How do you look? I was always thin (normal), & could eat anything without gaining weight until I hit menopause (early 40s) - have had a weight problem since then (approx. 40 lbs. overweight)
Family history - What major diseases run in your family? My dad had heart bypass surgery, but not till age 75 always very healthy. My mom (82) has congenital heart failure & a pacemaker (since about 78). She has osteoporosis (osteoarthritis?) in her hands. Maternal grandparents both had strokes later in life.
Any other information? Ive had three C-sections. Dont know if that's pertinent, but mention it just in case.
Also: Ive seen a neurologist & had an MRI to rule out Parkinsons or similar issues; Ive tried chiropractors, regular massages & acupuncture for the tremors. None has had any effect.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

To Dr. Mahfooz: I will give that a try - Thanks and I'll keep you posted.
In answer to dougadam's question: Yes, I am taking blood pressure medication (Atenolol), but didn't start it until AFTER the tremor started so it's not the cause.

To Drs. Mahfooz & Prodip: Just one question re: your recommendations. Is there any need to be concerned about possible adverse interaction between the Atenolol (BP med. I take) & the Mag.Phos & Natrum Sulph you recommended?
Thanks again for your quick response - I'm anxious to see if these help.
