Dog w/ possible Pyometra-please help
Hi! I have a 9 yr old, intact female dog that has sudden onset of what appears to be symptomatic of Pyometra.(I looked it up online) We are remote from a vet(from everything) and she is very large and does not travel well, so I am looking for any and all homeopathic alternatives. Her symptoms are:-Thin, foul smelling, reddish tinged vaginal discharge.Sometimes it appears a little milky or might have some pus in it. Mostly clear and tinged red.
-lethargic
-depressed
-no appetite
-excessive thirst
-intermittent fever
She was fine yesterday, down as of this morning. Her last heat was approx 2 months ago, and she has never been successfully bred. Please give any help you can. what about an organic vinegar douche?
Thank you for your attention.

Hi Linda,
Give her 12c merc. one dose.
I'm a great believer in acv but never tried it internally-I guess it needs to be diluted first.
If you can do it-go for it.
Also give her garlic every day.
Lots of rest, water, and TLC.

Thank you for the response. I'm guessing that acv is the vinegar douche?
Also, I have Merc viv 30c on hand. Should I use 2 tabs of that Or Send someone to town for the 12c?
I guess the best way to get the garlic down her since she's not eating would be pills? I have some pretty good ones that I keep on hand for emergancies.
Thanks again. Sincerely appreciate the kind attention!

Actually, When I wrote my original post I was talking about apple cider vinegar, it's all we use. I've never seen it as acv before :0) Thank you for clarifying.

Frankly it should be rather 12c, dogs are so sensitive to remedies, 12c will be ok.
garlic tablets are perfect
she needs her energy for healing now-it's ok that she doesn't have great apetite.
Please let us now how she is tomorrow.

I was thinking about that and if you can get 12c there-great, but if you can't give her 30c - it's better than nothing as the potency is not much higher (local pharmacies usually carry only 30c and 200c and orrdering via Internet can be a drag).

Thank you for your reply.I need to update symptoms.
- We moved her into house to relieve flies and heat.
- She has been on colloidal Silver since mid-day yesterday.(I use this first thing with all my animals)
In the house the symptoms are different:
-Discharge is not foul smelling, is thin, watery, pinkish with kind of a menstrual smell, it also is not constant but seems to gush when she does it ( approx four maybe five times since she has been in the house.)(Not sure now if it was the discharge I was smelling outside at all)
-She is lethargic but very alert - It's like she goes into these episodes of heavy panting lasting from 5 to 10 minutes with very fast heavy breathing and is very alert and then is utterly exhausted and drained. sleeps off and on but breathes heavy all the time.
-doesn't seem depressed now that she is in the house.
- every once in a while she whines like she may be in some pain
-she is drinking water but is not dehydrated but also has not urinated as far as I can tell since Monday am. And her tongue and gums are wet and pink
-Her head and ears are cool to touch, not cold, not hot and her nose is not wet but not really dry either, cool to touch
- She seems uncomfortable and keeps shifting to try and find a comfortable position
- It seems there is a possibility she could have been bred during her last heat approx two months ago.
- And she seems extremely swollen in the area between her rectum and vulva and her vulva is also very swollen
- She did vomit one time this evening, it was liquid-y, kind of brownish but clear, approx 1/2 cup of fluid and has not done anything like this before or since. She is panting a lot and has a lot of drool.
-have not yet had success getting the garlic down her
This may seem like a stupid question, but is there any chance she could be in labor with puppies? Should I still give her the 30c merc? I have held off because I was unsure of dosage and I don't want to make anything worse and then with the symptom changes...
Is there any way, without a vet, I can definitely tell whether she is really ill or in labor?
Thank you again for the kind attention

Now the picture is more like APIS (do you have 30c)?
Forget merc. for now.
I'm worried now that she really might be expecting and this might be a miscarriage... I have no idea how long dogs carry but 2 months seems short.
As I can see it (and of course I can be wrong) you have only two options
1. somehow get her to the vet for examinations-and you will know for sure what is wrong
2. wait for the solution doing the best you can (if you could get someone knowledgable to see her it would be the second best thing after #1)
(apis also fights a tendency to miscarriage, from herbs-rasberry leaves)
Garlic would be for infection (if the discharge is milky etc it means bacteria=infection.
You can give her all no matter what's the cause.
Dogs when not well feel very GUILTY and unworthy. She is very happy that you moved her to the house.

Thank You for your thoughts and advice. We lost her before I could give her the Apis. She seemed as if she was getting better, was not panting nearly as bad and than just suddenly stopped breathing. I tried CPR and Carbo veg with no result. I don't understand. Her eyes were clear and sparkly and she was responsive and alert until she stopped breathing. I kept looking for signs of sepsis and could find none.
Thank you again for your help and concern.

My stray cat was very small and the vet didn't recognize she was pregnant! So the vet can be wrong too!the best way is listening to the puppies heartbeat with stethoscope. or sonogram. Or maybe just a pregnancy test available in pharmacies for people?
just keep it clean-infection would be awful here --the symptoms you describe now are more like about broken amniotic sac where the embryos are, contraction would cause a gush. Broken waters, as they say. Normal labor follows it.

We posted at the same time.
I really do not know what to say - except that she was really happy to be in the house and not e.g. in the car riding to vet. He wouldn't change a thing and she would get unneccessary stress.
So you would know why? but is it realy important?
Wish you the very best

Thank you again for your kindness. You are right. I believe everything happens for a reason even if it is one we do not know, and somehow this was the right thing. I know she was happy. She was a wonderful friend and companion and will be missed.
I appreciate that this site is here and that we have access to one another for help, support and guidance.
