hot flashes

I thought I was done with menopause. Hot flashes, etc. stopped for a number of years and recently have returned with a vengence. What is the best remedy for getting them under control again?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please describe your symptoms in detail as well as your emotions, food choices, habits and lifestyle.

Chuckle!!! Okay, emotions...generally upbeat, positive, more confident than in recent years -- we have a couple of difficult children.

Food choices -- I am a comfort eater, so I don't always do as I should, however, high protein, less simple carbs, very few processed sugars, lots of veggies. I am about 40 pounds overweight.

Lifestyle -- not sure what you're looking for. Fairly routined in my days, though flexible. I teach one or two days a week, doing home renovations ourselves. So, I suppose it's fair to say, I'm reasonably active, though not the specimen of physical fitness.

Haven't checked my blood sugar recently, but am on the edge of diabetes.

So, now that I look at all this, it probably isn't just one thing. argh
