hairballs in cat
I am wondering if there is remedy to reduce hairballs in our cat. I don't know much about cats as I never had a cat until I "joined the family" when I married my husband five years ago. I realize this is a normal part of having a cat, but if there is a remedy to reduce them, I'd like to know. She vomits at least once a week with them. She is long haired. She isn't brushed nearly like she should be, so that is probably part of the problem, but even when we did that more, it didn't seem to help that much. We used to give her a hairball medicine that worked a little.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I'm eager to know myself (although doubtful). Brushing doesn't help much-- unfortunately I know.
Many people here have cats and know netural therapies: anyone found the solution for hairballs?

Here is what I do to reduce hairballs in my herd.
-Add 1/2-1 teaspoon of olive oil to food daily.
-Brush the cat once weekly, absolute minimum. Use a regular black comb, the smaller teeth, it will pull a lot of hair that they would normally shed.
-Nux Vomica 30C-Dose once per day in the evening, until improved.
My cats still get hairballs from time to time, but it is a rare occurrence.
