Food allergies and Eczema

Hi,

I really hope you can help me with some homeopathy treatment for my son aged 3.5 years.

He has had eczema since he was 1 month old. It started with a few spots on his forehead which became weepy dry and crusty and within a week he was completely covered with eczema from head to toe. I do also remember he had small red spots on his body when he was born.

My son is constantly itchy all day and night and this I feel is mainly due to food allergies/intolerances.
He had a blood sample taken which showed an IgE level of >5000 KU/L which is extremely high - quite rare.
The normal level is 15 KU/L. This means that he has multi-food allergies the most severist being chicken, eggs, nuts, seeds, legumes (any kind of lentils/beans). He is also allergic to dust.

The only formula milk he will drink is soya. All other foods are treated with caution. A tiny bit at a time. I have only recently
started giving him dairy products and wheat which cause him to scratch but he is able to tolerate.

If he does react to something he usually starts to scratch intensely around his chin, cheeks, forehead
and neck. He's face will turn red and he'll start to sweat.

Generally he is hot to touch (feverish). If he has a cold he's especially itchy and irritable.

He has eczema on his face, neck, ears, elbows, hands, tummy, legs and feet. His
face, neck and legs are the worst because that's where he scratches the most.

His skin has dry circular patches which need to be creamed constantly to remain moist. His face looks cracked and wrinkly unless I moisturise. I use Dermol and Cetraben cream but within 15 mins it needs to be reapplied. Most of the day he sits scratching and peeling his skin even if its painful or bleeds.

I don't use steriods because I worry about the side-effects.

I have started to give him probiotics.

He is a strongheaded, clever little boy, friendly and chatty but frustrated and irritable when he is itchy.

For 3 months I gave him Calcarea Carb. 1000 (once a fortnight up to 6 doses) and Apis mell. 30 (x3 per week). He was ok taking Calc Carb but very hot, irritable and itchy with Apis. The 3 months were difficult. Should I have carried on for longer. Is it a treatment you would recommend? Is it safe to give him the same treatment after 4 months?

Any information and advice would be more than welcome.

Thank you in anticipation.

He was ok taking Cal....Describe it in a little more detail.

Yes, in fact I've given him some today and he's been fine. Why do you ask? Should I be worried?

Oops sorry you wanted a little more detail. I give him one drop in some water before or after food. He was itchy this morning but much happier this afternoon.

Stop Apis mel altogether. Let us know in 7 days as to how the kid is doing.

Hi, could you please help me
understand how Calc will help my son's eczema. Is it safe? Will it only treat the eczema?

At the moment I am only giving him 1 drop every fortnight. Should I increase this to once a week or every other day.

Today he is extremely itchy. I gave him one drop of Calc yesterday and he was fine.

For now, just stop everything.

Medicine in same potency should ideally not be repeated and we should move to higher potency once the body has started reacting to it.

Nothing to worry about till now. We will need to re-assess the case after a week and decide on the future course of action.

Regards

Niel

Thanks Niel will do.

It's just distressing and painful to watch him scratching all day long unable to do anything. I really hope we can find a remedy to treat him.

Thanks again.
