hysterectomy
Hello, I am 51 yo. In about a month I will have a hysterectomy due to very large fibroids. What remedies would be helpful before and after the surgery? Would it be helpful to describe my symptoms? Thank you!dianer on 2009-12-14

Hello - I was thinking of general homeopathic remedies for surgery (ie speed healing and reduce scar tissue) but I will try to answer this questionnaire as best I can and maybe it will help your response. Thanks, Diane
Patient ID: Sex:F Age: 51
1. Describe your main suffering? The right side of my lower back hurts all the time, dull ache, near top of pelvis bone in back. Doctor believes due to pressure from fibroids.
2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body? Frequent urination, some pain right before bowel movement. I used to have hot flashes once in a while mostly at night but lately I feel they are pulsating all night long.
3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? Lack of energy, depression, moodiness, apathy, no sex drive. I am also fearful of the surgery.
4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Back very painful, fearful, anxious, depressed.
5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease? I have had fibroids for many years but it has been about a year since my back has been hurting. It was recommended about 3 years ago that I have a hysterectomy but I felt it wasn't bothering me enough to justify. I don't know why I have the fibroids, I assume an estrogen imbalance possibly due to diet and stress.
6. Which time of the day you are worst? Night and early morning.
7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Laying on side in fetal position helps. Hurts most when change positions in bed or get out of bed or standing for long time. Feels good to rub both sides of lower back vertebrae.
8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)? I think possibly stress - the fibroids doubled in size after my father died. Also moved and had a new job around then as well.
9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? Hot and humid weather seems to make me feel better. I have trouble with dry heat.
10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
I believe my periods are over now but I used to get very moody prior to periods. I am sensitive, impatient, anxious, and withdrawn. I can be strong minded (although I am flexible) and sometimes people think I am arguing when I think I am not.
- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
I like thunderstorms.
- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? yes.
- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Yes.
- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc? I get weepy frequently.
- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? I love them. My feelings for my husband have diminished sexually which has affected our relationship negatively.
11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly? I am afraid of losing my husband and cat. I dream of having too much stuff to carry.
12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? I usually crave savory foods (salty, sour, spicy). I don't like bland foods. I can take or leave sweet foods.
13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Normal to excessive.
14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Normal. Although, when I am hungry, I need to eat otherwise I can't think very well.
15. Is there any kind of food which your body cant stand? Garlic and raw onion.
16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? I sweat more when stressed. During hot flashes, entire body, otherwise, mostly trunk.
17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
Often loose. I am not familiar with types.
18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
Lately not well - hot flashes wake me up often. I mostly sleep on left side but move between sides and back. My back hurts changing positions.
19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? I do not have much sexual desire although I used to.
20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all? I think I am more depressed and anti-social than most people.
21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? I have only been taking supplements like enzymes, fish oil, macca, dim, vitamins. I have tried natural progesterone cream. I have not noticed any symptoms except maybe the growth of the fibroids was reduced.
22. What major diseases are running in your family?
Diabetes on Mother's side.
23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance. I am a sloppy dresser and am about 20 pounds over-weight.
24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)
If you are not having normal menstrual cycles, please answer the following questions:
- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last?
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods?
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive?
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery?
- Do you notice any clots in the flow?

Hi, Thank you for the recommendations. Should I do the graphites and silicea now or after surgery? What are they specifically for? I read some posts here from people who had issues after their hysterectomy surgeries who used remedies such as staphysagria, calendula, thiosinaminum, calc. flor, and arnica for scar tissue and pain. Do you recommend any of those as well? Diane

Please take these medicines and report after 15 days, how you feel. On that basis next course of action ie which remedies to be taken before and after surgery will be recommeded.

hi, is silicea 8x ok? abc doesn't sell 6x. thanks, diane
dianer last decade
Please go for silicea 12x in that case.

When I tried to change my order to 12x, I was told it had already been shipped. How critical is it that it be 6x or 12x? Will 8x (or I have 30c in my home kit) suffice? Would I still take 3 doses 4 hours apart for days 2-15? But if you think it has to be 6x or 12x, I will re-order. Now I wish I had asked you sooner but I thought 8x would be OK. I wonder why ABC doesn't carry 6x...
