The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Sinuses blocked due to seasonal allergies

Hello Doctor,

I live in Toronto, Canada. With the arrival of spring - I have been plagued with allergies - stuffed up nasal passage, headache, sneezing, etc. I have tried a lot of OTC antihistamines. Not much relief.

Is there something you can suggest? I really need to be able to get a decent night's sleep!!

Thank you

*Please describe your other physical symptoms like headache, backache etc.

*You prefer cold environment and open air or do you prefer warm surroundings.

*At what time of day you as an individual feel better and worse like better in the morning and worse at night.

*How is your sleep?

*How is your sweat? It is less, more or normal? Where do you sweat more like in armpits, head etc.

*How is your thirst for water, cold drinks and hot drinks?

*Whether the complaints aggravate after movements or while taking rest.

Your age, height, weight and appearance please.

I am a female, 39 years, obese (now weigh 258 lbs), 5'3'. I had bariatric surgey 3 months ago (I wrote to you a couple months ago after my bariatric surgery regarding gas.) Then I was 286 lbs. I also suffer from alopecia - connected to my PCOS.

*Please describe your mental state like you are irritable, calm, worried, depressed, frustrated etc. How are your relations with your close relatives and friends?

I am a fairly happy, confident and content person. I do not stress easily and tend to be of a positive outlook. I had a miscarriage last year and since then, I have distanced myself a bit from a lot of relatives and friends. I was and to some extent am dealing with the loss.

*What do you think is the causative factor for your problems?

In 2008 - I had a bad case of hives and had extensive allergy testing done. Apparently I am allergic to dust and some environemental pollen, etc.

*Please describe your other physical symptoms like headache, backache etc.

When I am congested - focusing is difficult and I will have a headache towards the end of the day. I very rarely will wake up in the morning with a headache, unless I have not slept well.

I sneeze often - 10-12 times in a row. But the congestion is the big problem - not being able to breathe is not a good feeling.

*You prefer cold environment and open air or do you prefer warm surroundings.
I do prefer cold environments to warm ones - the heating in the homes and offices makes my nasal passage dry and very uncomfortable. I live being outdoors.

*At what time of day you as an individual feel better and worse like better in the morning and worse at night.
My congestion is worse in the evening and night and when I am laying down. I am not really a morning person - tend to be at my best later in the day.

*How is your sleep?
When congested - not good at all. Without congestion too - I have difficulty falling asleep. I can be laying awake in bed for hours!

*How is your sweat? It is less, more or normal? Where do you sweat more like in armpits, head etc. Normal - I actaully tend to swaet more in the face - forehead and upper lip area.

*How is your thirst for water, cold drinks and hot drinks?

My thirst is fine - I drink a lot of water in the day. I cannot drink and do not like drinking anything cold.

*Whether the complaints aggravate after movements or while taking rest.
Congestion is worst at night, when I am laying down. I have tried propping pillows, etc does not really help.

*How is your bowel movement? Constipated, loose or normal. How is the digestion?
Since bariatric surgery, I tend to be slightly constipated.

*Do you think that you are able to satisfy your sexual desires?
When a partner is unable to satify me (which is often) - I will masturbate. I often find myself on the verge of an orgasm - but unable to let go. It is frustrating.

My periods are fairly normal for the last 10 years. I have PCOS and was on metformin for 3 years - 10 years ago. Since then I have had normal periods. approx 30 day cycle - 3/5 to 4 day bleeding. Sometimes, I do have clots.

Thank you Dr. Kadwa. I have ordered the meds you prescribed and they should arrive today.

Dr. Abhishek - I agree with you re: Dr. Kadwa being very capable. I have been fortunate to receive remedies from him in the past on this forum - which have worked very well for me. Thank you.

Hello Dr. Kadwa,

I have taken the remedies you have suggested and today is Day 4.
Here is an update of how I am feeling. There has definitely been a change in my condition. The biggest plus is that I am now able to get atleast some sleep (4-5 hours) at nights. But I am still congested - now it is rather flowing/runny as well. On day 1 when I took Nat Nur 1M - I was all shook up - cannot really describe the feeling - but each and every cell in my body reacted to it.

So, is this normal? Do sysmptoms become worse before they get better?? Please do let me know.
Thank you

This is how you appear
I am a fairly happy, confident and content person. I do not stress easily and tend to be of a positive outlook.

and this is at the core
I had a miscarriage last year and since then, I have distanced myself a bit from a lot of relatives and friends. I was and to some extent am dealing with the loss.

Natrum Mur acts well in such conditions. Of course it looked good on the basis of your other symptoms too. We went for a high potency as you have already responded well to Natrum Mur 200c earlier.

So a homeo remedy acts at a dynamic plane and thatswhy we ask many questions which people at times find irritating.

So you are correct in your assessment that -
On day 1 when I took Nat Nur 1M - I was all shook up - cannot really describe the feeling - but each and every cell in my body reacted to it.

Thank you so much for your response.

Not knowing exactly how the consultants/doctors on this forum operate, I am also delighted to know that you do keep track of all the remedies you offer to patients in totality. Must mean an awful lot of tracking - but I am thankful for it.

Have a great day!

My allergies are better, thank you.

But, now along with the weight I am dropping after my bariatric surgery, I am also losing hair. I have always had alopecia on the crown of my head - but now I am losing hair at an alarming rate from everwhere on my head.

Is there anything that can help? Please do let me know.
Thank you

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 4 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 3-4 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 45 minutes before or after taking medicine.
