Pilonidal Cyst
Dear Dr Varma,I am 40 year old male. I have been reading some of the posts on identical topics in this forum and have a question.
I have had a pilonidal cyst in my lower back for some years now. Back in 2007 it swelled a great deal and became very painful. Had to go to a hospital where they drained it.
After that the wound has never really healed. I have had an semi-open wound in my lower back since 2007 that is constantly draining. Possibly because of this, the cyst has never really swelled again - after all its constantly draining. I have no pain whatsoever.
I would like to avoid surgery if possible. I know the cyst reappers for many people that have surgery.
I have seen from other threads on this forum that your treatment for this condition is based on Myristica 200c to burts open the cyst followed by Silicea 6c or 30c and then by Silicea 200c.
My question to you is: since my wound is already open and draining, can I avoid the Myristica 200c?
If so, should the rest of the treatment be identical?
--> Sillicea 6C (4-5 pills 3 times a day)
--> After two days of taking Myristica 200c dose I should start taking Calcarea Sulph 6X 4 pills 3 times days for one month.
--> Silicea 200c I will take after I complete the course of sillicea 6C .

I am very sorry to hear about Dr Varma's passing. I am a newcomer to this forum and only read a few of his posts but got the impression that he was a very wise and knowledgeable person.
As for your questions, I cannot tell you exactly how many drops of pus per day. It varies... I put a little piece of tissue paper in place to avoid getting my underwear dirty and this piece of tissue paper may get dirty rather quickly (within one day) with yeallowish or sometimes blood stains (or a mix of both), or it may last up to two days without getting dirty.
Sometimes the discharge is greater than others. If I feel it is discharging a lot I may press down on it in order to remove some of the excess pus and when I do it may bleed a little. Sometimes it may bleed a little bit on its own without any action from me (I see this from the tissue paper).
Again, I have no pain whatsoever.

Please start taking Silicea 6C, 4 pills nicely dissolved in 5 sips of water with a spoon, 3 times a day, for 1 week.
No other remedy must be taken while taking the above.

When you say '4 pills nicely dissolved in 5 sips of water with a spoon', how much water is 5 sips?
Also, can I eat or drink anything anytime before or after taking this?
At the end of this week will I need to do Silicea 200c or any other remedy? I ask because I will need to obtain them and I still do not know exactly where I can find them in the place where I live (Lisbon, Portugal). Dr Varma also mentioned Calcarea Sulph. Will this be required?

Dear Rui,
A sip of water is the amount you drink at a time from the glass. So, the 5 sips will be 1/4 of the tea cup approx.
You will not need Calc Sulph according to your symptoms. You see each patient is unique.
You will be needing down the road, Merc Sol. 200C, Arsenicum Album 200C, Berberis Vulgaris Q, Natrum Sulph 6X and Calendula Q.
Also, please do the following.
1. Take your remedy dose at least 1 hour before OR 1 hour after your meal.
2. Avoid coffee and other sources of caffeine.
3. Avoid raw onions, wine and liquor.
4. Avoid spicy foods.
5. Avoid strong perfumes.
6. Never touch remedy pills with your hands.
Tip 4 pills into the cap of the container they came in
And place the pills into half a glass of water.
7. If the remedy is in liquid form, then, pour 4 drops of the remedy into half a glass of water?
8. Avoid herbal supplements unless recommended by your Doctor.

I see no significant difference to be honest. The wound is open and still discharging. I think it feels a little less prominent to the touch but that also comes and goes and I cannot be sure if it is from the medication.
Shall I continue with the Siliecea 6C or change to something else now?

Continue with Silicea 6C as usual and understand this remedy will expel the pus out NOT cure your fistula.
You were asked to get the following remedies as following.

I am a little surprised at your tone considering you told me to do a treatment for one week and I am reporting on that treatment after one week. I am not complaining or criticizing. I am being honest when I tell you I see no significant difference. I also do not always have access to internet and cannot always reply immediately.
I have kept on taking the Silicea 6C three times a day past the initial week. At this moment the open wound is not as swollen as it usually is and it drains very very little. Again, this sometimes happened even when I did nothing but not usually for so long so I assume this might be a result of the Silicea.
You told me to take one dose of Myristica Seb 200C, but how much is one dose? Is it also 4 little pills diluted in water (same as with the Silicea)?
I have all the other products you told me to get except for the Berberis Vulgaris Q and the Calendula Q. I think it was the 'Q' that confused them as no one seemed to know what the Q stood for. Can you clarify?
Other than those two I have all the others. What shall I do?
