Very progressed digestive disease, is it safe taking more than 1 remedy?

Hi, I have a quick question to ask everyone - I am in a particularly bad state of gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying). I've lost 30 pounds the last 2 years, I'm on disability due to my illness and am without any income - moved back in with my parents. I've had a lot of success with homeopathic remedies in the last 6 months and I have a great homeopath but he keeps pushing me to try to stick with only taking 1 remedy at a time. I've tried several different ones, and they all seem to benefit me enormously in different ways, so I'm loathe to just stay with one when taking the others help my condition so much as well.

I started off with natrum mur, then to nux vomica, now I'm on a dose of lycopodium a day but some days I'll do a dose of cocculus, natrum mur or arsenicum alba as well.

My tremendous digestive issues I feel like were helped by the lyco and nux the most, my anxiety is helped by the arsenicum, my deep-seeded fear of experiencing emotions is helped by the natrum and the cocculus helps with my vertigo and dizziness.

I've also noticed that when I take a remedy, I almost immediately feel the effects and I feel great almost in an instant. About halfway through the dissolving of the pellets, I feel worse again and then when they finally dissolve, I feel great once more - and then after a few minutes I tend to go back to how I felt before taking the remedy. Is this normal? Am I just really sensitive to remedies and if so, should I decrease/increase doses?

Thanks so much!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
So are you saying you only get a few minutes of improvement?

It is almost 100% certain that your homoeopath has not found the right remedy yet. The right one will address all your major problems and many if not most of your minor ones. Needing to mix and match several remedies is a sure sign of failure to find either the best remedy or perhaps even an understanding of what to aim the remedy at (in other words what is the basic problem).

Cycling through so many remedies will probably just palliate your problems. Creating homoeopathic 'band-aids' like this will allow your underlying disease to continue destroying your health. This is the method of orthodox medicine, not our method. None of those remedies is getting to the cause of your disease, they appear to just cover up one part.

At some point, either those remedies will stop helping and you will be back where you started (if not worse off), or you will hit a crisis that is totally unaffected by these remedies.

The entire goal of homoeopathic treatment is to remove the root of your disease. Your homoeopath is right to prescribe one medicine at a time - this allows him to see which remedy is doing what, and judge how suitable it is to actually cure you.

If you are taking all those remedies at your own whim, I would urge you to stop before you completely ruin your case and make it impossible for someone to clean it up. This is what will happen eventually. Suppressing, palliating, hiding symptoms - at some point you will push everything to a deeper level, and then it will all become much more difficult to solve.

Thank you so much David - it's nice to get a second opinion, even if it's what I was afraid to hear. I'm very impatient :(.

I should point out that I absolutely have seen major improvement in the past couple weeks since starting the lycopodium. I feel like some sort of 'healing process' has started - I've regressed somewhat to an 'older' state of disease. It feels like the severity of my problems are much like they were when I first got sick. My mind is much more at ease and focused, and my digestion has improved a lot.

I definitely will just stick to the 1 remedy for now since you also recommended it, even though it's hard.

Thanks again -

I will say this - if the goal is to truly get to the original cause of all my health problems, it does seem like an avoidance of emotions/feelings was a very big catapult. As a child I was deathly afraid of vomiting, and I haven't thrown up in almost 15 years because I have worked so hard at not being sick every time I feel nauseous. I was rejected in high school quite often for my awkward looks and obnoxious behavior and as a result in college I rarely asked women out and became very reserved in social situations, not taking many chances for fear of humiliation. My Christian faith was also very important to me, but in college I became so troubled with theological problems that I stopped believing, and that seemed to have a damaging effect on my outlook on life.

Again, thanks so much for taking the time to respond.
