Pituitary / Hormones Concern
Hello,I'm writing in hope to get some help with my condition. I'm 36 years old and I have been battling with Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome for over 8 years now. I am not overweight or diabetic, and I manage my PCOS with diet and supplements of d-chiro inositol.
However, I also have an overactive pituitary gland for which my endocrinologist prescribed cabergoline. It works okay, but every time I've tried to come off the medication, my prolactin levels become high. I've already been taking it for a year and really would like to stop since it has really bad possible long term side effects.
Additionally, my latest ultrasound showed a small subcutaneous fibroid which is causing my periods to be very heavy and painful.
I want to get to the root of the problem and not fix the symptoms with medicines. Any thoughts on any of this?
Many many thanks,
Eddy

Thank you for taking some interest to look at my condition. Here's the questionnaire...
Patient ID: artsy | Sex: Female | Age:36
1. Describe your main suffering?
Irregular painful, heavy cycles, mood swings, fatigue, headaches, morning stiffness, trouble sleeping well and feeling rested and energized the next morning. Pain during ovulation.
2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
Occasional allergies, itching, rashes. Occasional mental fog and forgetfulness.
3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
stress, anxiety
4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?
Sick. Extreme pain and extreme tiredness.
5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
I began having problems with my cycle after giving birth to my first child 9 years ago. However I was on birth control for 10 years before that.
6. Which time of the day you are worst?
Depends. Sometimes at night, sometimes during the day.
7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?
Not following my eating and not taking the medicine or the d-chiro inositol makes my periods irregular. I have learned about PCOS and manage my symptoms with a diet that is low in sugar, carbs and processed foods. I eat mainly organic and real or unprocessed food. I also take supplements of d-chiro inositol, and those changes along with the Cabergonline to regulate my prolactine levels have made my periods regular again. However, I dont know what makes them vary in intensity so much. My OBGYN seems to think it is the subcutaneous 9mm fibroid in my uterus. This is my first fibroid and for what I understand its caused by hormone deregulation, so again, not sure what is causing that. The pituitary sends messages for estrogen production, so Im not sure if thats related?
8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?
Certainly internal stimuli. My menstrual cycle and the hormonal changes.
9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
In general, I feel great when it is dry and not too cold, but on the colder side.
As for my condition when my symptoms are at their worst, a warm/hot compress in dry air helps a bit.
10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
I am moody now. I used to be cool, calm and collected. However, after having kids Im more irritable, argumentative and with less confidence. Im not always in the mood to be around people or talk to people. I come across as very social, but I feel like Im really not.
- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
Usually calm.
- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
Yes, but only by those close to me.
- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
Sometimes all three really bother me.
- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc?
I dont bite my nails, but Im fidgety with them.
- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
My friends are okay. My family is small and some health issues with family members and change of circumstances with others have added some worries and stress to my life. I have 2 kids. 1 girl, 9 yrs old and 1 boy 6yrs old, but as a mom Im constantly worried about them and their overall well-being. I also find that I try to have patience for them, and end up feeling a lot of internal anxiety when I am around them. My husband is a good person, he works very hard and I am usually pleased with him. However, there are times when I feel he could be more understanding, empathetic and supportive.
11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?
My fears are that my husband may die and I would have to raise my kids by myself. I stopped working when I had my kids and now that they are older Ive tried to work out of the house, but it hasnt worked out.
12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
I crave breads. I can do without sour things.
13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Normal for the most part. Sometimes I feel more thirsty.
14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?

15. Is there any kind of food which your body cant stand?
Mainly processed food. I have to be careful when I go to restaurants these days.
16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?
Normal. When I work out my head and trunk sweat the most.
17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
once a day and soft.
18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
Not too well. I wake up feeling extremely tired with neck stiffness, leg stiffness, and almost a mild headache. I usually dont wake up at night and I sleep in a fetal position on my left side.
19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all?
