Asthma/ allergies/ 3 year old - Walkin?
My son's homeopath moved away in the middle of his case.I have a 3 year old son who was born full-term 9 lb 9 oz.
He was fussy from the start. He wouldn't nurse easily and developed severe eczema from head to foot.
I nursed a full six months but was told to stop because his weight plummeted so low that he was way off the growth charts.
He was put on Neocate, an allergenic formula.drinks ittoday at 3.5 years old (as supplement). He improved greatly after beginning Neocate formula.
He was allergic to eggs, beef, nuts, garlic, soy, and milk. He was failure to thrive until 15 months old.
He has behavioral feeding issues which stem from his late allergy diagnosis. He learned to not like food from the start.
He developed severe allergic asthma about 6 months after to his eczema disappeared. He reacts to food allergens with a late onset asthma episode and hives. However, he will quickly react to cat, dog, mold, and any chemicals with wheezing and chest retractions.
He had all the usual vaccinations required ( I lost that battle with my husband). He will not have any more vaccinations or boosters in the future (my husband now agrees).
He had one dose of stramonium 200 at first meeting with homeopath.
He has had Silica 200 on three more meetings with homeopath spaced three months apart. His homeopath felt strongly that it was his primary constitutional layer. He reacted well to the first dose which improved his appetite and demeanor.
Now, his asthma is not under control. I always used arsenicum 30 but this is not working well anymore. He is back on pulmicort to control asthma. Additionally we just learned that he makes no IgA white blood cells and that his compliment proteins are well below normal.
more info:
-he had a bigger head for his body (not so much anymore).
-Is extremely bright, focused and has an amazing long term memory. He is very adult-like. He is also very detail oriented.
-He likes order
-He has thin skin (can see network of bloodvessels on face, chest.
-Likes salty foods and sour as well.
-He didn't speak a word until 3 years and 3 months old. He tried very hard but couldn't make it happen.
-He has sensory problems.. doesn't like to touch sticky things or sand. It is devastating to him to have his toenails cut or his hair cut. It is so extreme his overreaction.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have got to get him off the pulmicort. Thanks for any input.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I have a prejudice against the 200c potency.
THere are parts of the Tubercular constitution in the thin skin.
A lot of the allergic remedies operate in the Psoric area.
There are certainly signs for Ars Alb and it may be worth trying a higher potency say 1m. Single dose and wait.
Eczema and Asthma are interchangeable and often putting medicated creams on eczema will get rid of the eczema but it will change to asthma.
Has he a heart shaped face, fine skin and long eyelashes.
Did he ever have bluey whites to the eyes when a baby.Does he suntan easily.
Did he ever sleep with his head on the pillow and his bum in the air.
Any warts or moles.

He has what I would deem a heart-shaped face. He does have long eye lashes and fine china doll skin, without a doubt!
He does not suntan per say because he has a dislike for the sun. He always wants to wear a hat and sunglasses. He doesn't want to play outside when the sun is strong.
I would say that he has bluey whites to his eyes. His eyes are brown, also.
He has two small freckle type moles on his back and one cafe' au lait birthmark on top of his thigh. No warts.
Of noteworthy mention, he was born with a very well developed features. He looks the same as he did when he was first born. You could superimpose his face today and place it on a picture of his baby body and he would look the same except today he has hair. This is very different from my other son who has big cheeks and very baby features and thick skin. Also, he has one of the most symmetrical faces I have ever seen.
He does not sleep with his rump in the air rather, he sleeps on his belly, flat on the bed.
One other characteristic worthy of mention is that he is not very flexible. He likes routine a bit more than what I would deem "normal." He will identify with an experience the first way it is presented to him. For example, he loves to do puzzles (100 piece puzzles). The first time he did a puzzle it was on a little child table. He always wants to do puzzles on that table. Last night he wanted to work on a puzzle but that table was being used by my husband and he was told to use another table. This causes a huge tantrum because he feels that he can only use the original table.
He does this with almost every experience he has. It is as if the first time he experiences something that it becomes set in stone from that point on. He does this with clothing and all sorts of activities. I see this as a bit atypical when compared to other children. I have always attributed this to his need to feel some control over his world since his body was always overreacting to allergens and foods.
I have always thought that he had a strong Arsenicum layer but I am not confidant in my ability to judge.
I feel guilty that I am at fault for his health problems because I had a lot of stress while I was pregnant. My father was diagnosed with cancer and he lost his mental faculties do to metastasis to his brain and he became very cruel towards me. This was hard for me to handle and I know that I passed that stress onto my son. I was also 8 months pregnant when 9/11 occurred which was quite unsettling here in America.
Sorry for being long winded..... I really appreciate your help.

The toss up here is between Tuberculinum and Carcinosin.
There is obviously a connection to carcinosin as his grandfather has had it. So there is a genetic factor , Also he has bluey whites to the eyes .
Against that he dose not have the easy tan olive skin .
THe Tuberculin seems to win out on physical characteristics-- heart shaped face , long lashes , fine shin etc.
Is he easily bored , restless, see red temper?
Does he sleep well.

I would say that he is easily bored although, he does have an obsessive side to him. He will fixate on certain things of interest until he exhausts all interest and then he moves onto the next thing. He has a lot of idiosynchrocies
for a little guy. At one point the doctors thought that he may have autism but I never thought that he fit that scenario.
No, I would not describe him as being restless. He is pretty even natured as well.......... he doesn't tantrum as much as most do at his age. He is very adult-like. He has a definite sense of what is right and wrong for someone being so young.
He gets scared easily. If you tell him to be wary of strangers for example, he will never question that and he will always stay close to us when we go out. If he behaves badly and my husband were to raise his voice at him he will be so distraught. He doesn't like it if anyone is mad at him. He will cry and flop on the floor and cling to my feet. He acts destroyed by any type of rejection. He has no reason for feeling that way because he has received an enormous amount of love from all of us and he never even had a babysitter even once nor any daycare setting.
He sleeps well once he is asleep. He likes to stay up at night and he is very slow to wake up. When he was a baby he never slept...not until he was 8 months old.
Its interesting that you mention carsinocin. His old homeopath mentioned that he sort of fits that remedy. She mentioned it also because he has a cafe' au lait birth mark.... I think that she said that was also indicative of carsinocin.
One other thing.... last fall the doctors pushed very hard for my son to get a flu shot. His asthma was very bad at that time and my husband was persuaded by the doctors argument. He had the flu shot and three hours later he began wheezing hard. Six hours later he was in respiratory distress. I watched him turn blue and we nearly lost him. I wondered if you think that thuja would be indicated at some point to to undue all the vaccinations and such? Thanks for your time.

Since I sense a note of urgency in your posts addressed to Walkin for the last 3 days who has not responded so far, I am copying a post that I have made for another child who was in a similar state to your son which may be of interest.

Re: asthma 6 yr old From Joe De Livera on 2005-08-18
I have treated many cases of Asthma successfully in adults but not in children. However since I presume that you have consulted many physicians for his asthma with perhaps not much success, you may like to use this simple therapy for your son which I feel can help him to overcome his problem, perhaps permanently after you have treated him for a few weeks.
The remedy that I recommend you use is Nat Sulph 6c which must be used precisely in the manner indicated below:
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from your nearest supermarket.
Pour out 100ml
Drop in 3 pellets or 1 drop of liquid Nat Sulph 6c into the 400ml water
Cap the bottle tightly and succuss it 4-6 times by banging on your palm and look out for the air bubbles to fizzle up from the bottom.
Pour out 1 teaspoonful of the potentized remedy into half a cup of water and stir it gently.
Give him just 1 teaspoonful of the water from the cup once daily.
Store the bottle in the refrigerator.
You must stop all other medication if you decide to use this remedy which should be taken daily for a week and then every other day. You may like to know that I have many instances of adults who were chronic sufferers from Asthma for many years who do not use the remedy any more after about 4 months on this therapy. Others who were not so chronic react favourably in a few weeks and only use the remedy if and when necessary.
A remedy that I have used for adults when they are gasping for breath is Ars Alb 200c. This remedy is taken dry and just 3 globules will suffice for a dose which may only be given just once a day. This usually clears the lungs and opens up the airways in under 20 minutes and is the homeopathic equivalent of nebulization.
You can also use steam from an open electric kettle on the boil with the lid open which your son can inhale twice daily for a few minutes. This will help his lungs to expel the mucous which I believe is the reason for his cough.
You will have to ensure that he does not catch frequent colds and a remedy that you can use to arrest an oncoming is Ferr Phos 30x (Biochemic salt). Dose is 2 tablets taken 3 times daily. It is important that he takes this remedy as soon as he feels that he is catching a cold.
I would appreciate if you will post his response to this therapy on this forum, if you decide to use it.

thanks joe but could you help me with his spasmodic cough right now.he is coughing every 15-20 min. and his throat also seems to pain .
Re: asthma 6 yr old From Joe De Livera on 2005-08-18
I believe that his cough is due to the phlegm in his lungs being expelled by the coughing which is a natural reflex and should not be stopped.
I advised you to use steam from an open electric kettle or jug and I hope you take my advice literally as this should help to soften the phlegm and his coughing will expell it.
Start him on the Nat Sulph 6c therapy and I am confident that you will be able to help him soon.
Do not get disheartened as your boy has obviously been suffering from his Asthma for many years and it may take a few weeks from now on for him to react favourable.

I know this might sound crazy but I have seen a chiropractor and I saw a little boy at about 9 mths old going in to get adjusted. I asked the dr why such a little boy would be going to see him. He responded by saying that sometimes when babies are born while delivering the spine gets out of line. When that happens the nerve endings gets moved and pinched which can cause a variety if problems. For instance it can cause allergies, behavioral issues, problems with sleep, acud reflux It can cause issues with your heart like blockages. Since thus little boy has been going to the chiropractor he hasn't had to take acid reflux medication or allergy meds. He sleeps without tossing and turning and he is better with his behavioral. The chiropractor proceeded to tell me about his father who had heart blockage and his dad was supposed to have surgery but he decided to go to a chiropractor and after screw adjustments his blockage was gone and he didn't need to rave surgery.
I know this sounds strange but it is worth a try since there is no medication involved and it is beneficial in more than one way. Maybe you should try it with your child. I am going to because when my son was born he had a broken collar bone and he has hyper issues and allergies. He also had an enlarged adnoid which is most likely caused by allergies. He was 70% blocked so I decided to remove the adnoid instead if experimenting with his food for 6 mths. The dr wanted me to feed him food that was right got his blood type and all organic food. I was already feeding him organic food so I figured it could cause more damage in the long run than to get the thing out. Because if mg sons behavior and medical history I figured I was going to try it and share my info to hopefully hell others.
