1 week old newborn-GERD

Hi, I hope someone could please help me. I have a 1 week old newborn that I'm certain has GERD. (My first son had it).

My newborn is very uncomfortable after feedings and he squirms even an hour after feeding. Milk also comes up and he swallows back down.

Today, he vomited an entire feeding. Ever since the episode of vomitting, he seems even more and more uncomfortable after each feeding.

I hold him upright while breastfeeding and I also hold him for at least 30 mins before putting him down in his Rock n play sleeper which holds him up at a 30 degree angle. Nothing is working. He will sometimes go down nicely, but when it hits the hour mark after his feeding time he starts to get uncomfortable and the milk will then come up.

Please help

Sincerely,

Very desperate Mother

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Try going over to www.joedelivera.com and using his nat phos
therapy for the baby. If you do not have results come back on
here and another remedy will be found.

Nat phos 6x is a cell salt and you can get it at Whole foods,
Hylands brand ( they look like aspirin tablets) You can also order
nat phos 6x cell salt from Vitacost online.

Hi I have read many postings using nat phos 6x for baby reflux. In fact, I used it for my first son with great success, but he was already 4 months old when we started him on it.

My confusion is the dosage for a 1 week old baby. Would I be giving it directly to my newborn mixed with my breastmilk?

Or do I personally take it and then e will eventually get through me?

Also what is the dosage?

I would actually start with half a tablet and dissolve that
in two tablespoons of water and give that to baby a half
hour before feeding the baby. You should be able to
tell after about 3 tries with this whether it is going to work.

Hi,

Does it have to be exactly 30 mins before the feeding?

The reason I ask is because I breastfeed on demand and he is not on any type of time schedule.

Will it work if I did it right before the feeding with some expressed breastmilk?

Or must I use water?

It does not have to be exact half an hour before feeding-

The goal is to try it 3 times and I think it is better
if you get the remedy into the baby in a small amount of
liquid so then you know the baby actually took it in well,
so yes try it with the expressed milk and then see if
you can wait 5 or 10 minutes to let it work.

Spunky,

just fyi on Joe's method.

He suggests 1/2 tab of nat phos 6x dissolved in milk
right after a feed- not to exceed 5 doses in 24 hours.

He also has the Mother take two natphos 6x tabs after
each of 3 meals. Along with using Arnica 30c liquid ( 2 drops
put into a 500ml bottle of water and one cap is a dose)
You can read about that on his site.

You have to see what works here, as I have seen babies
not respond to the nat phos taken after a feed, but
do respond taken before the feed, etc.

As I said, Joe's exact therapy is on his site and if you
search Gerd on this site you will find it.

Thank you so much for directing me to Joe's remedy. I will try and will report back.

I'm praying this will work.

Spunky

I too hope that my therapy aka 'Joepathy' will help your baby in the manner that it has helped hundreds of babies in the past.

Hi,

We started the Joepathy treatment yesterday and noticed after the 2nd dose, my son is now very gassy.

Is this a normal part of the treatment? And this symptom will eventually subside?

I am also taking the nat phos after each meal as suggested. We are goin to order the amica part of the treatment today.

My question...could we give gas relief drops along with this treatment? For example gripe water of mylicon drops? To help with the gas pains my son is experiencing.

Thank you so much for all the help.

It is still early to change the therapy for baby in spite of his being 'gassy'.

This condition will soon pass and he will be OK, perhaps tomorrow.

Suggest that you do NOT overfeed him. You can increase the number of feeds and you will try to reduce the quantity to help him to overcome his current problems.

Got it, thank you Joe. As for the feeding, he is only feeding on one breast for less than 10 mins.

We are feeding him as he demands every hour. I think he is eating so often because he is not taking in a large quantity of milk per feeding.

Or it could be a soothing thing. I'm thinking about introducing a pacifier but I'm afraid of nipple confusion.

Joe,

I just wanted to report that the baby's gas pains have definitely subsided. He also slept really well last night with little discomfort.

He's still a bit squirmy after feedings but definitely not as uncomfortable as before. I really think your Joepathy is working!

Right now, we are doing the nat phos 4 times a day for my son and I am taking after a meal (3 times). We haven't started in the Arnica yet.

Should we continue with the same remedy for one more day?

Also, my son has a doc appt this Friday. I have him spreading out all vaccinations so that he's only getting one at a time. This Friday he has his first hep B vax. I would opt him out on this but my Father has hep b and he will be one of the main caregivers for my son when I return to work in approx 4.5 weeks

So I think it's important I get that hep B vax for my son asap. What are your thoughts?

Glad to learn that baby has responded to my 'Joepathy' in the same manner that hundreds of babies and adults have responded, the majority of whom have been CURED of their GERD which some of them have suffered for many years and have been prescribed the standard PPI drugs like Nexium and Zantac which you were fortunate not to have used for your baby.

Feel free to use Nat Phos in moderation of course for baby as it is absolutely safe in use. You can also take it to reduce your own weight which you will observe drops by 1kg per WEEK. Confirm this loss for my records.

I am very concerned that you are considering having baby vaccinated as he is under 3 weeks of age. It is the shock to his tiny body that I am concerned with and even though your dad has had Hepatitis B there is no chance of his infecting baby after he was cured of the infection. You are advised to check with a knowledgable physician to verify my statement.

My advice is to delay ALL vaccinations till baby is over a year old.

Joe,

Unfortunately, my Dad is not cured of Hep B. there's only meds he takes to keep his liver enzymes at an appropriate level.

As a result, there is a risk for my son.

I will continue to give my son nat phos when needed.

As for the weight loss, I'm hoping to keep some of my pregnancy weight. I'm pretty thin pre pregnancy and was ho
