Constant Pain and Flu-Like Symptoms

For the last two-years, I have had moderate to severe pain in my muscles, joints and bones. The pain level is usually 4 - 8 and sometimes a 10. The bone pain is in my shins and lower legs and is almost always severe and usually the bone pain lasts anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes, then ceases. The muscle and joint pains vary in intensity but never cease.

The pain is always worse in cold, damp or wet days and at nighttime.

The pains in the joints is a dull pain, while the muscle aches can be dull and sometimes can be sharp stabbing pain. The bone pain is almost always a sharp, intense pain.

Sometimes the pain prevents me from doing simple things such as holding a book, typing, holding spons, utensils, etc.

The pains started when my ex-roommate and close friend died. I was with him the day he passed away and then about a month later the pains appeared.

The pain mostly feels like a flu-like ache and can be anywhere on my body.

I also have swelling in my feet and ankles, especially at night.

I get headaches which are in my temples and feels like a muscular ache. I also have pain in m y jaw and behind my left ear.

I am being presribed morphine and percocet for the pain, but I am in pain 24 hours a day. I am taking Trazadone at night for insomnia, and Effexor for clinical depression.

Aside from the pain, I feel like I have the flu and have fatigue all the time. I have been tested for Lyme disease, HIV, Lupus, Cancer and so far nothing is conclusive. I have been diagnosed with Gulf War Illness and also Fibromyalgia, but another doctor is doubtful of both diagnoses.

I am 49 years old. In addition to the above, I have terrible insomnia and usually I get 2 - 4 hours of sleep at the most.

I also have peripheral neuropathy and my fingers and toes frequently go numb and they sting, especially at night.

For the last two years, I have have never had a single day when I have felt in good health.

My wife has left me because of my constant pain and that has caused me much despair and sadness as well.

Any advice is much appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I also forgot to mention that when the pain appeared, my skin changed and became drier and it itches frequently. This is especially on my hands, feet and shins/calves.

I slso have developed psoriasis on my forehead, ears, and cheeks.

I don't know if you need the info, but I live in the New York City area. I am a 49 year old male, and I have an anxious, irritable personality.

everything you have descibed are all sympstoms I have been experiencing for the last year and a half. Doctors do not know what it could possibly be. I am currently in the hospital and have been for the past 3 weeks. I can barely move most days I am so weak and sore. I get the heavy achy feeling in my shins and feet and feels as though they are swollen . My skin has developped some irritation some days so badly and so itchy I was convinced I had to be having an allergic reaction to something. Also, my left ear and the left side of my head have been in constant stabbing pain. My doctor checked my ear and said that there was some swelling and fluid was not passing through from sinuses and what not and that it was virul. But as I'm sure you can relate something virul does not last this long. I'm just wondering if you have had further diagnosis . Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

To Zehavi and Constant

I am concerned to note that you both suffer from similar pain throughout the day.

I really do not know what Homeopathy can do for you but I would like to suggest that you use Arnica 30c in the wet dose which is made by inserting 3 pellets of the remedy into a bottle of drinking water from which you will sip a teaspoonful 3 times daily after shaking the bottle every time.

You are advised to stop or at least reduce your intake of drugs to let the Arnica take over.

You may like to know that Arnica helps to ease the flow of blood throughout the body and it is possible that it can also help your body to overcome its present status.

You are expected to drink at least 4 liters of water daily to help the therapy.

Please report your response in a week after you start this therapy.

A better medicine for immediate relief, when you get the pain ,is Mag.Phos 6x, 4 tablets dissolved in warm water. You can take three to four doses, with in an hour, till the pain subsides.

For complete cure, you have to see a competent homeopath in person.

Postresponse to Mag.Phos.

I'm not a doctor but was once conventionally-trained as a nurse and I too suffer similarly to what you both have described though no longer nearly as badly as you due to the many things I have done over the years to help myself. Your descriptions sounds alot like FMS/CFS -
fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndromes. Being 'syndromes' simply means they are a compilation of symptoms the underlying cause(s) of which is unknown, difficult to determine and correct, probably multiple in origin and highly individual to the person. It most definitely is indicative though of something gone very
wrong in the body. In my own case, it was precipitated by a surgery but for someone else it may have been a bad flu or car accident or whatever. It's been a very long ongoing journey to unravel it all which takes
time, money, finding the right medical practitoners be they conventional or alternative, plus a willingness and determination to be your own health advocate, to change your lifestyle and have the courage to persevere through
all the adversity, including society's poor understanding and negative view of 'hidden' illnesses like these in that sufferers largely tend to look ok so people, incl. the medical community, ofte-tend
to assume they are and so think that their complaints are purely psychological in origin - believe me, they are not although the psyche does play a very important part, especially in one's recovery. The old adage that 'attitude is everything' certainly holds true in this instance, as does 'you are what you eat'. You obviously have computer access so research your symptoms, see what you can find out for yourselves. I do believe a thorough personal consult with a homeopath could help but have yet to be able to find, afford and have access to one
where I live in S. Ontario, Canada. Hopes this helps at least some and best of luck to you both!

Mare

To Mare

I was alerted to your post and was interested to note that you are replying to a case which I advised upon in 2006 on November 11, 2006 which is just under 6 years ago.

It would be of interest if the patient'Zehavi' will be alerted and respond after all these years.

Hi Joe,
I apologize, I confess I didn't look at the date of their posts,
very sorry 'bout that! I sure do hope those two folks have found help by now but I know the average person can oft-go many many years and see many different practitioners before finding help that works for 'their' body.
Peace,
Mare
