Uvietis in Horse
Hello, I need help in finding a homeopathic remedy for uvietis in my Appendix Quarterhorse who is 12 years old. He has been treated with Pred Acetate, Atropine, Banamine and Gastroguard to prevent stomach upset from the Banamine because he exhibited ulcerative symptoms/stomach discomfort. First Vet diagnosed uvietis and herpes infection in the right eye in August and we started treatment with herpes med and uvietis meds, except the Pred Acetate because of the herpes. The eye improved and by the end of November herpes test was negative and overall improvement allowed a stop to all medications. Mid December the eye was experiencing white, runny discharge again with obvious discomfort to the horse when in sunlight. White of the eye very red with cloud over the pupil. We took the horse to University Vetrinary hospital for evaluation, uvietis was diagnosed in both eyes with the right eye worse than the left. Horse was put on the Pred Acetate, Atropine, Banamine and ulcerguard 8 days ago. The eye has shown significant improvement but horse is not happy normal self. He seems depressed and tired. He is eating well but is experiencing very loose stools. Vet from the University has informed that the condition could very well be cronic. I am looking for an alternative treatment to avoid long term exposure and continued use of these drugs. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.KathleenG9 on 2006-01-23

I don't know if this will be of any help but this is what I have in my notes.
UVEITIS-Eye turns blud/cloudy due to edema over the cornea. Use LEDUM 30C 2 x daily, once in the AM and once in the PM.
SYMPHYTUM 200C-1 x daily for 3 days and then 2 x weekly in the afternoon. If there is little to no improvement within 12-14 days, stop SYMPHYTUM and give PHOSPHORUS 30C-1 x daily in the afternoon.
