Severe hair loss

I am 49 years old and having severe hair loss. I also have hypothyroidism for 10 years and taking synthroid since then. I am on no other medication. I stopped having my periods 2 years back. I am looking for some remedy to my hair loss. Every time I comb my hair or run my hand through my hair I loose hair. With hair wash I loose more than 100 hair strands each time. Scared to oil or wash my hair. Please help.
