Sameer, today is the fourth day since the LM dose was given to my son. Actually before the dose was given he had cold with egg white like discharge as well as the itching. On the 2nd day of the dose the mucus discharge turned thick greenish and abundant which usually happens whenever he has cold. Still produces abundant mucus.
And for the past one week i had kept him on a very strict limited diet so the skin was getting smooth. Yesterday day3 of the dose and a week after being on the strict diet i gave him little chicken and an egg-less cookie, today the skin feels rough and getting thicker as well as itchy. He loves chicken and craves for sweet but both bother him. And the respiration is very noisy even during the day. while sleeping snores and breaths through the mouth.
And in his last physical visit, the hearing test had failed on the right side. Actually an year ago when we went to an ENT specialist to consult for enlarged tonsils and enlarged adenoids, he was diagnosed having fluid on the middle ear and hearing was affected because of the fluid only since he tested fine with the inner ear hearing. So we are confused if the inner ear fluid is chronic or temporary because of the cold. Please advice. Thanks.

How is the behavior and mood since the dose ?

sameervermani last decade
He seems to be happy. Once in a while he asks me to carry him, i felt he does that mainly when he is sleepy. Now the obstinacy has reduced a lot, if we explain something he understands and tries to follow. He is not scared of dark as he used to be but makes sure somebody is around when dark. During the day he goes to all the rooms by himself, not scared very much. Not much problem in going to bed and falls asleep rather quick. At times he throws things at people, sometimes he even hits family members and if we say we are not happy with that behavior he stays quite for sometime and comes and says he wouldn't repeat it. All these changes are gradually happening for the past few weeks.
Since the last dose overall would say he is happy and good.

Good stuff. That is a very good sign.

Please give another dose tomorrow but before you give the dose you have to hit the 30 ml LM1 bottle hard 8 times on the palm of your hand. This is very IMPORTANT.

After hitting, take out 3 drops of LM1 in 250 ml spring water, stir and give a teaspoon.

Report in 4 days.

Sameer, My son has cold for the past one week and produces lots of mucus. Since we are having weather wise very cold days recently, i thought my son's cold is an acute condition because of the weather and assumed the pulsatilla LM1 would work on this as well. But that doesn't seem to be happening. Since it has been already 7 days my husband wants to take him to our Pediatric, but i am worried doctor might prescribe antibiotics which will interfere the homeopathic remedy. I am wondering would the pulsatilla 200c work on this acute condition, if so, would it interfere in the process of LM1. I can hear the mucus in his nose and throat when he breaths. Please advice. Thanks.

In chronic treatment, mucus and discharges will come back, as it is in the nature of deep medicines to throw things outwards when given in a homeopathic way.

If it can be avoided, please refrain from going to the doctor, it will pass. 200c is not to be given.

Thank you Sameer. Is it ok to give Tylenol OR Benadryl to help him sleep better.

Blue123 last decade
Tylenol is ok.

Avoid other medicines. Try natural things like steam of honey/ginger syrup.

Sameer, I gave the 2nd remedy to my son on Monday evening. Today is 3rd day after the remedy. The night after the remedy was given my son had severe coughing which didn't let him sleep well. Now the cough has reduced a little and the mucus production has reduced a very little in quantity otherwise no change in his condition. In fact the itching during the night has increased a lot because of that he couldn't sleep well during the night, so he sleeps during the early evenings and late mornings a lot. And lately we are noticing a lot of offensive farts which he had never before. Breathing, the same noisy breaths. He already is a poor eater and now his intake is even going down. In the last couple of weeks he has bowel movement every other day most of the time. Craves for chocolates, sweet cookies and sweets. Please advice. Thanks.

Stop dosing for a few days, and observe his symptoms closely. Try to form a list of all his symptoms with the following in mind while noting about every complaint:

-What makes it better?
-What makes it worse ?
-What is the exact location ?
-What is the sensation (might be difficult to get this from a child)
-What other symptoms occur with this complaint ?

Thank Sameer. Will observe closely and let you know.

Sameer, I was reading through the children constitutional type from the following link
http://www.bethcoleman.net/constitutionaltypes.html

I feel like lot of my son's symptoms fall under Iodium. I would like to get your opinion on this.
Below are the symptoms that make me feel that way.
1. Dark-haired - my son has dark, thick hair and big(not too big) black eyes.
2. Intensely Restless - He can never sit idle for a minute. Lately he has started watching TV cartoons. That's the only time he sits in one place or without exploring some thing. Sometimes he sits in one place, thats only when he is playing with a kind of toy or exploring something or watching something. He wouldn't move when i carry him around but if i put him down he will immediately explore the things around.
3. Thin and easily emaciated - Until one year his weight was average that's because he stayed home and had good intake of milk. Within a week or two after starting at the daycare his weight went into the minimum of his age even with decent feeding at the daycare. Now also if he doesn't eat for couple of days it will be very obvious in his look. As i have mentioned in my earlier post he is very hungry after 2 or 3pm in the afternoon. Sometimes he can eat two medium size flat breads (chappatis) with honey and a cup of milk for dinner.
4.catarrhal infection - Easily gets cold and the cold wouldn't go away easily. Has fluid in the middle ear which is kind of chronic.
5.'They are perfectly happy playing with other children and then suddenly, apparently for no reason, they break out into violence. Very often they are playing perfectly happily with a brother or sister and suddenly they pick up something and hit them.' - He has done this even before we started him on any homeopathic remedy and does that even now with us. The other day my husband and my son were playing happily and laughing, all of a sudden for no reason he hit my husband with the TV remote. While playing if he gets too excited he bites or hits people for no reason. And when we show angry face he will be quiet for sometime before resuming his play.
6.while playing in water he doesn't play with hot water. And for bathing he needs neither cold nor hot water. Prefers Lukewarm water. He prefers room temperature to cold drinks.
7.His voice compared to his age kids is coarse since the day he started talking.
8.Has both enlarged tonsils and adenoids.
9.He has most of the time yellow whitish stool
10.And i notice while he has intense itching at night his body feels hot. Before taking Pulsatilla he never liked covering his body while sleeping, but after Puls. sometimes he asks me to cover him with blanket and at time he throws the blanket off. Even if i cover him after he is asleep he will throw the blanket away in a while. And even as a small baby he will take his hands and legs out of the wrappings.

The point that contradicts is the inactive skin whereas my son has eczema.

Please let me know your opinion on this. Thank you very much.

Hi blue123,

Reading about remedies and associating with remedies by trying to find your son's symptoms in it is always going to be mis-leading. Iodum being a strong tubercular remedy, it will have aspects of your son's case.

Please notice his symptoms carefully while not associating with any remedies.

Sameer,
It has been five days since you asked me to observe my son closely. Here are the details.
Day1 - Friday the 28th - Had lots of mucus and coughed a lot. And had fever of 100.4 in the evening. Gave him Tylenol. Slept OK. Woke up around 3:45 and couldn't sleep for some time then slept OK.
Day2 - In the morning still had fever around 100 degree. Lots of mucus and coughing as well. Didn't want to do anything. asked me to carry him all the time and wanted to sit only on my lap, not even next to me. Didn't want to eat anything. Just drank milk twice until afternoon. Late afternoon and evening started to play little bit. I forced him to eat little rice. Seemed to be little energetic before sleeping. Slept around 11pm. Actually starting from this day i have been giving him Junior Chyawanprash mixed in Milk.
That night woke up around 3am scratching and coughing, applied Aquaphor and fell asleep after a while of coughing. Couldn't even lie down because of coughing.
Day3 - Morning woke up coughing. Had Milk. Coughing after milk made him threw up all the milk. Besides coughing and mucus, he seemed to be energetic and played fine. Forced him to eat three meals that day. Did threw up couple of times while coughing, mostly brought up mucus.
Did wake up around 2:30am, scratched a lot. Fussy and cried when i tried to hold his hand to stop scratching.
Day4 - Got up with little coughing, but lot of scratching. Went to school. Happy but scratched a little at school. After coming home played fine, but itchy at times. Went to bed fine, but got up around 12:30am scratching and after that didn't sleep well. Scratched often.
Day5(Today - Feb 2nd) - Morning very itching and non-stop scratching. Coughed a lot and did throw up few times.

All these days he has noisy breathing and snoring while sleeping. Mentally seemed to be good, but when we contradict him for some thing the first time he would say no, second time he would raise his voice and say no and eventually he even would hit the person who contradicts. so far we have noticed he does this only with family members. The teacher praised him for having more interactions initiated by him. Still demands for certain things but lot of times we are able to persuade him.
The scratching is severe mainly in the fold of the knees and the skin is worst in this part of the body. And the skin starting from the knee towards the ankle, the skin just above the fold of the elbow and the skin in the lower back are thick compared to his rest of the skin. The skin on the face looks pale and the rest of the body is blackish brown.
Had bowel movement every other day, but had twice yesterday.
Has sleep apnea.
Starting from yesterday the mucus seem to be reducing. Actually before puls while waking up he had hard time opening the eyes in light, now that seemed to have reduced a little. For example if he wakes up in the middle of the night he would cry if i switch on the lights, lately he is not crying. We are also doubting some problems with his vision, because when he looks at us we feel like his focus seem to be at different direction. He couldn't explain anything yet. We are yet to consult an opthamologist.
Please let me know the next step.
Thank you.

I think we can wait for 3-4 more days, as the mucus has started reducing, and mentally he is doing better than before.

Sameer, my son's coughing is very severe at times. Non-stop. I am having tough time seeing my son go through this. And from yesterday he has runny nose with egg-white like mucus. This how it starts when ever he has cold. Some times nose is also blocked.
Itching is also severe at times. And i noticed while sleeping his body feels very warm, same while itching.
Mentally he is doing good. No major complaints.
For the cough today i am taking him to the Pediatrician.
Since no improvements in the coughing and the mucus started to come back, i am confused if the remedy is working or not. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

Let us just only talk about the cough and get all the symptoms related to it ?

--When does it happen ? What triggers it ?
--Any particular times of the day when it is worse or better ?
--What brings relief ?
--Does the coughing bring up any mucous ? If yes, what is the color and consistency ?
-- What do you mean by 'non-stop' cough ? Is it continuous for 24 hrs ?
-- Any other symptoms which accompany the cough (in any other body part) ?

Sameer

sameervermani last decade
--cough comes up any time of the day. when it comes it lasts for minimum five minutes.
--I couldn't say when it is worse. day before yesterday after the morning milk, he coughed a lot and threw up almost all the milk he drank. Yesterday he did cough all morning but didn't throw up. And during the first half hour of the nap yesterday he coughed a lot, nothing helped like drinking water, sitting up etc,.
--so for couldn't say anything that relieved him.
--especially after milk/food the cough makes him to throw up. The food comes out with lots of white mucus. Most of the time it is of food color, so couldn't be very certain of the color.
Actually when he had lot of mucus, if he coughs we could here mucus in the throat. but he doesn't know how to bring that up. When the mucus had reduced it sounded more like a dry cough. like tickling urge to cough. only once cold water aggravated the cough, other times water didn't do anything to the cough.

Blue123 last decade
And can you describe the sound of the cough ?

sameervermani last decade
Also, please check his tongue as well and describe it to me. (is it clean, coated etc..)

sameervermani last decade
Also please comment on his thirst.

sameervermani last decade
Sound of the cough is deep and course. more like a rattling cough from throat.
Tongue - thick white (very light yellowish) coating except the tip of the tongue.
Thirst - not much. had to remind him to drink water after noticing him with out drinking water for few hours.
One thing i missed earlier - yesterday he said his right ear was itchy and asked me to bore it with buds.
Today very itchy - had to pick him up from school earlier.
He doesn't sleep well during the night but sleeps well in the morning after 7am. if let takes more than two hours of good nap. But in school he gets to sleep only for an hour.

Blue123 last decade
Has this kind of cough ever happened in the past ?

sameervermani last decade
Don't remember one of this severe.

Blue123 last decade
This cough started after the last dose of Puls LM1 right (about 10 days ago)?

sameervermani last decade
Yes. First the mucus and then the cough.
