Help for Unexplained Hair Loss

I have been losing hair for a year. I ran a marathon last February and doctors all said it was tellogen effluvium. I think it probably was, because my hair stopped growing, but now for several months it is growing but still falling out. I've got about a third of what I used to have.

General thinning all over, all vitamin/thyroid/blood tests normal. I don't know what other info will help, but I'm so discouraged! What can I do to try and stop hair loss and regrow hair?

I also have extremely painful periods - I'd appreciate advice for that, too!
