Severe back pain
I am 29 and have been suffering for 11 years with severe back pain. I have it in all parts of my back, its so severe that I can barely move at times. When my back is 'out' along my ribs, it knocks the wind out of me and makes it difficult to breathe. I have been hospitalized for days with no results and have seen two chiropractors...nothing. I am so sensitive to extreme back pain that I am not even able to lie on the ground or sit in certain positions or I will be paralyzed by pain for days. PLEASE HELP with any advice.Mrs.Cox on 2007-08-02

What position makes the pain a bit less? What position makes it worst?
Can you recollect, how it started? Since how long you are suffering with it?
Tell us about your bowel habits. Do you have any constipation?
What is your personality like?
Are there any problems in other parts of the body?
Tell us about every thing, which seems to be out of 'normal'.

I remember when I was a senior in high school I would spend up to five days lying in bed...unable to move...and when I did have to get up I would have to have someone's help, slowly roll out of pain with pain shooting severely through my back...the pain was so severe it was paralyzing.
As far as my bowels go, I believe they are normal with no constipation or any problems.
My personality is hard-working, obsessive cleaner, I have to have my life perfectly organized, I am a stay at home with three children under the age of six, I am a nursing student, I am full of laughter, I have a lot of energy (even though I always feel exhausted), I ride bikes, hike, ski, camp, and love to swim. I am 5'4 and I weigh 135 pounds (so I don't feel like weight on my back is a problem), and I am pretty much on my feet from sun up to sun down living life.
I get occasional migraines but other than that my health seems perfect at this time. I am six months from turning 30 and I feel like I have the back of an 80 year old. I can't hardly carry my youngest child, I can't lie down on the floor or any hard surfaces, I can't vacuum with a normal vacuum (we had to purchase a very light weight vacuum), if I get stuck sitting in the same position for too long my back will be 'out' the next day, when my husband gave me a wonderful back massage my back was 'out' for five days(I spent the first three days unable to even move), and pretty much anything you can think of I can't do.
I would love to find out 'why' this keeps happening to me. I was told by a chiropractor that my back sounded like an impact injury;however, I can not recall anything that has ever happened to me that would cause all of this. When I was in the hospital and had x-rays, MRI's, blood tests, and whatever else they did to me all they told me was that I had slight degenerative disk disease (which I have learned that most people have to a certain extent). Please help me..I would appreciate anything.
